There are four steps to studying at HfG Karlsruhe:


1. Course and Portfolio Advice

A portfolio including selected works is one of the requirements in order to apply at the university (practical subjects) and the submission of a motivation letter. At the beginning of the year, interested students can receive in-depth advice on their portfolios in the respective courses of study.

2. Fast Open Application

The application period for the winter semester 2021/2022 starts on March 1st, 2021 and ends on April 30, 2021.
For the course of study Art Research and Media Philosophy, the deadline ends on Mai 31, 2021.

The complete documents including a motivation text for application must be uploaded online. The application website is available starting March 1st. The portfolio (practical subjects) must be handed in online. The application period 2021 will start on March 1st and end on April 30, 2021 (cut-off date).

3. Examination for Aptitude and Admission

If all entry requirements are met, artistic or theoretical aptitude will be tested in a multi-phase process.

4. Enrollment

Admitted applicants must enrol by September 30 at the latest.

Qualifications

The academic freedom of non-modular course studies at HfG Karlsruhe means that Bachelor and Master courses are not offered. The studies are concluded with a Diplom or a Magister. Full Bologna compatibility is ensured and the degrees are recognized internationally.

  • general or subject-specific higher education qualification or a comparable qualification (a technical college qualification does not qualify)
  • proof of artistic or scientific aptitude
