Enrollment takes place after a letter of admission to the course of study for the relevant semester is received. Each admission is only valid when enrollment takes place at the student office (3rd floor, room 376) at the latest by September 30 of the relevant year.

Enrollment Fees

The current fee of 160,70 € must be transferred by September 1. All other relevant information will be given in the admission letter.


The following original and complete documents must be sent by post to the student office, Lorenzstr. 15, 76135 Karlsruhe, by September 1:

  • Online Enrollment form (personal details)
  • Valid police certificate of good conduct
  • Original health insurance certificate (incl. the two-fold “Notification of Student Health Insurance”)
  • Signed declaration of house and fire safety regulations
  • Certified copy of higher education entrance qualification (“Abitur” certificate etc., if not already provided)
  • Proof of de-registration from previous universities for those who are transferring

Further relevant information will be made available in the admission letter. The enrollment cannot be processed if there are any missing documents.

Enrollment in Person at the Student Office

The enrollment is complete once a personal interview and examination of all mentioned documents have taken place and student cards and certificates of studies have been handed out.

Foreign Students

International applicants must prove their knowledge of German either at the beginning of their studies or after attending in-house German courses during their first year of studies (DHS-1 or TestDaF-3).
