Online lecture series "Critical Ecologies": Dr. Birgit Wiens 1.November, 5:30-7 pm | HfG Karlsruhe

Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design was first established as a progressive school on April 15, 1992. It was founded by Heinrich Klotz between the years 1989 and 1992, together with the ZKM | Center for Art and Media Karlsruhe. The combination of teaching, research, and exhibition institutions addresses the given artistic and pedagogic task of relating traditional arts to media technology and electronic production processes.

The Critical Ecologies lecture series on sustainable thinking and acting in the performative arts was created in collaboration with Nadia Fistarol / Szenischer Raum at the ZHdK in Zurich and will continue online in WS 23-24.

Dr. Birgit Wiens teaches, researches and writes with a focus on theater and digitality, scenography and performance design studies, eco-design, visual (culture) studies and theater as dispositif/dispositif research. Her latest book Contemporary Scenography: Practices and Aesthetics in German Theatre, Arts and Design. was published in 2019.
