Miss 12000 Volt, Close to the Machine is the result of a critical analysis and feminist reflection on thousands of scanned advertising images.

Lena Thomaka came across Miss 12000 Volt, when leafing through a magazine out of boredom. For the past few years, she has been working at the Badische Landesbibliothek in order to pay for her studies, and every now and then she stumbles upon the weirdest magazines. It so happened, that on this particular day someone had ordered the BIT magazine, a technical journal for document and output management. It was not just the 80s look with its classic laser rays and rigid picture constellations that prompted her to take a photo of the picture; it was the gaze of Miss 12.000 Volt, her eyes oddly lascivious and demanding.
