The HfG Karlsruhe is looking forward to Nannet van der Kleijn, who will come from the Netherlands to the HfG Karlsruhe in the winter semester 2019/20 for a guest professorship as a bridge between the fields of product design, communication design as well as exhibition design and scenography.

After 30 years working in fashion, design, art, architecture and communication, van der Kleijn describes herself as an "architect of dialogue". With her designs she reacts to changes in society and wants to be part of changes in cultures. Her work follows the design principle of "When Form Follows Value, Emotional Design is Created". In a seminar at the HfG Karlsruhe she will convey her approach to art and design to the students and give them the opportunity to explore their identity in material and mental form.

Van der Kleijn studied fashion design at the Amsterdam Fashion Institute. As a designer she has worked for brands such as Mexx, Easy Pieces, Telecom, Vespo and Hilton and (co-)initiated brands such as Orson & Bodil, G-Star and JOURMAIN. In addition to her work in fashion, she was also Creative Director at SIEMENS DESIGN LAB where she was involved in the development of interfaces. In 2005, she returned to the Amsterdam Fashion Institute with the assignment of re-establishing the link between teaching and industry as Creative Director. She is also a board member of the Master Tailor Institute, a foundation dedicated to restoring the quality of tailoring in the Netherlands.
