FOR LIVE MUSIC EVENTS IN ATHENS SPRING 2012
Moving Silence is a platform for contemporary silent film culture based in Berlin.
We will present contemporary silent films in Athens/Greece March 21st - 26th, 2012. The program will consists out of different thematic blocks, see below. Therefore we look for Greek musicians who will do live interpretations of the selected silent films that you can find below and also look for visual artists who like to contribute their silent films to be included and followed by live musicians. Feel free to suggest silent films that fit in the thematic events in Athens as well as contributions of any genre for future events.

In his new silent video-art piece, NERON, Genco Gülan reinterprets found footage from the riots in Athens and recalls to an ancient emperor. As we all know, during the famous great fire in Rome, emperor Nerone was playing his lyre watching the flames. Gülan tries to reflect this irony into today. By playing with the speed and the direction of the video and adding a picture in picture effect, he created a visual contrast within. A beautifulll red rose is slowly blooming in all that chaos. While trying to avoid to carry a direct message, NERON wants to disscuss the possibility of the coexistence of beauty and revolution in our contemporary world.

This program section may include films (silent) that are narrative-driven, using the conventions of filmic story-telling; some may be abstract works which mine the inherent sympathies between the time-based, visual aspects of both dance and film; some may not even feature "dance" as is generally defined, but contain a powerful sense of how movement unfurls in time and how we create meaning from the dance of images; some may take advantage of tools such as computer processing, motion capture, simulation, animation, and image processing; and some may extend the confines of the single screen to multiple screens, projections, or installation projects.

The Project will be exhibited at the Goethe Institut Foyer for the duration of the festival. On the 26th of March the exhibition will be transformed to an open stage that invites musicians to participate with their acoustic instruments and perform their own version of these music videos. We will have a PA, 2 Microphones and inputs.
To give more musicians the chance to perform one musician should not choose more than 2 videos!

Sound 8 Orchestra is the project of Matthias Wyder a Berlin based multi instrumentalist from Switzerland and Rudi Fischerlehner a Drumer from Austria. They combine easy listening, low budget lounge musik, Retro Futuristic B-Movie Soundtracks and psychedelic Electro Sounds to an unbelievable soundmix somewhere between Lee Perry, Add N To X, Sun Ra and James Bond Soundtrack.Together they create a funky and wild athmosphere, intensified by a crazy mix of super 8 projections.
The sound 8 ochestra so far released two records, (Langusta Entertainment) .The new Album "Nonstop Dancing " is released in Decembre 2011.
