Getting started
address-o-sync is comfortable, but also provides security features. Read the following introduction carefully.
To sync the Address Books on different computers on the network you have to install address-o-sync on every machine.
Once started, address-o-sync will ask for a password out of security reasons. Nobody will have access to the Address Book without that password. Choose e.g. something like "public123". You might also not determine a password.
Only the address groups chosen will be shared, the others remain inaccessible for other users. See below.
The address-o-sync window has two tabs: A settings and a sync tab.
In the settings tab you choose what parts of your Address Book will be shared for others.
In the sync tab you choose with whom you want to sync. (get his shared Address Book contacts)

Groups that haven't been in you Address Book will be created.
Contacts already in you Address Book won't be imported. Aliasses of contacts will be put in the changed/new groups.
Contacts without any name or company name won't be synced.
If an contact you already have differs in an addressfield field (e.g. phone number), Address Book will open and show a window asking if you want to update your contact.

Beware: Contacts that don't have or the same first name or the same christian name or the same company name will be handeled like new contacts and imported.
Hint:
Create for example a "company" Address Book group on different computers. When every new or changed contact that was in the "company" group on the other computers Address Book gets synced with your Address Book, it will be put in your "comapny" group. Exception: If the contact is already in your Address Book it won't be synced at all, what means, it won't be put in your "company" group.
