Die theoretische und praktische Grundlagenforschung stellt einen der Eckpfeiler der Hochschule für Gestaltung dar. Sie findet vor allem an drei Stellen statt: Innerhalb des HfG-Forschungsinstitutes, im Prorektorat Forschung und im Expanded 3 Digital Cinema Laboratory.
Das HfG-Forschungsinstitut dient vor allem der Vernetzung und interdisziplinären Zusammenarbeit herausragender Wissenschaftler. Es ergänzt dabei die Forschungstätigkeiten des Fachbereichs Kunstwissenschaft und Medienphilosophie.
Das Prorektorat Forschung stellt eine transdisziplinäre Einrichtung innerhalb der Staatlichen Hochschule für Gestaltung Karlsruhe dar; sie bildet die Schnittstelle zwischen Kunst/Kultur, Ökonomie und Technologie.
Das Anfang 2010 neu gegründete Institut „Expanded 3 Digital Cinema Laboratory“ betreibt praktische Grundlagenforschung im Bereich der 3D-Bilddarstellung und entwickelt künstlerische Inhalte für dieses neue Medium, das derzeit das Kino und das Fernsehen revolutioniert.
Research at the Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design
Theoretical and practical basic research represents one of the cornerstones of the Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design. This research primarily takes places within two particular contexts: as part of the Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design’s research institute and as part of research projects by university vice-rectors.
The Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design’s research institute serves to facilitate networking and interdisciplinary cooperation between prominent academics. It complements the research activities within the Art Research and Media Philosophy department.
Vice-rector research represents a transdisciplinary platform within the Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design; it provides an interface between art and culture, economics and technology.
The in early 2010 established Institute "Expanded 3 Digital Cinema Laboratory" conducts basic research in the field of 3D imaging and develops artistic content for this new medium, which is currently revolutionizing cinema and television.
